iPhone 8 and iPhone X unveiled; all the latest from the Apple Event

“We have huge iPhone news for you” claimed Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, at yesterday’s iPhone launch. And he was right.

Ten years ago, the world was introduced to the first iPhone. Now, let us introduce you to iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, the latest additions to Apple’s line-up. Oh, and one more thing: we can’t forget the astonishingly beautiful iPhone X (that’s pronounced “ten” by the way).

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus feature an all-new glass and aluminium design in three stunning colours: Silver, Space Grey and a new Gold finish. Unfortunately, this means that we’ve come to our first casualty – the popular Rose Gold colour.

However, the beautiful glass back design (made from the most durable glass ever in a smartphone, according to Apple) will more than make up for it, allowing iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus to join the water and dust resistant club.

Rejoice, as iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will finally be able to be charged wirelessly and can go from 50% battery life to full in just 30 minutes. Not only that, but the speaker system has been improved and will be a whopping 25% louder than iPhone 7.

Finally, both iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus will be packed with a new 11 bionic chip, which is reportedly the “most powerful and smartest chip” ever in an iPhone.

iPhone X

Spare a thought for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, as they’ve been slightly upstaged by Apple’s special 10-year anniversary iPhone.

iPhone X comes with a brand-new design, ditching the bezels and instead opting for a glass front and back, complete with a stunning edge-to-edge 5.8-inch display.

Boasting an OLED display (for the very first time for iPhone), you get more accurate colours and better image uniformity across the screen.

Say goodbye to the Home button on iPhone X, and hello to easy, simple controls. Tap the display to wake it up, and swipe up from the base to return to the home screen.

iPhone X also features wireless charging, an A11 Bionic Chip and an improved rear camera with dual image stabilisation. What makes this phone even more exciting, though, is Face ID, enabled by the new TrueDepth front camera. This super-spy type gadget allows you to securely unlock your iPhone, enable Apple Pay and gain access to secure apps just by looking into the camera.

So, there you have it – three brand new iPhones to choose from. Which one will you go for? Watch this space for more Apple content this week.
