Batteries sometimes seem like the one thing that’s not keeping up with the smartphone evolution, so it’s important to know the little tricks that could mean the difference between no power, and 20 more minutes on Candy Crush Saga.
So here are our top iPhone battery saving tips
iPhones offer a ‘3D’ effect that makes your icons look as though they’re floating. It’s cool, but totally unnecessary, and it’s eating power. Turn it off in Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion.
Stop Background Refresh
Apps like to refresh in the background, which uses up valuable power. Reduce this by going to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
Stop Location Tracking
You don’t need it unless you’re using apps like Maps. Head to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and switch them all off.
Stop Automatic App Downloads
Update apps yourself, when you’ve got plenty of battery. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store, see Automatic Downloads, then Updates and slide to off.
Stop Battery Killing Apps
You can see which apps are blitzing your battery in Settings > General > Usage > Battery Use. If there’s something costing you, that you could do without, we’d recommend uninstalling it.
