After Microsoft bought Nokia, it was only a matter of time until we started to see the Microsoft name appearing on the Lumia range of smartphones. But how does a Microsoft Lumia phone compare to a Nokia Lumia phone?
If there’s one word that sums up Nokia Lumia 635, it’s “funky”. That polycarbonate body shell certainly looks sleek, but it’s the wide range of colours you can buy that make it look really cool!
On paper, Nokia Lumia 635’s 4.5-inch screen isn’t as good as the screen on the Lumia 640. It’s still really nice, though, with darker blacks than you’ll find in other mid-range phones, thanks to the ClearBlack display technology.
Nokia Lumia 635 shows off its mid-range roots most in the camera, which comes in at 5MP. It’s a good camera, letting you grab great photos with a phone that won’t break the bank.
Powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor (which is clocked to 1.2GHz, and is specifically designed to squeeze as much power as possible out of mid-range phones), Nokia Lumia 635 is a surprisingly fast and responsive little beauty!
People who want a really cool-looking (and surprisingly responsive) smartphone, but who are also working to tighter budget, or first-time smartphone buyers who want a simple, easy-to-use device that will ease them into the experience of owning a smartphone.
It’s probably not hugely surprising that Microsoft Lumia 640 looks very similar to Nokia Lumia 635. The big difference is the size, as Microsoft Lumia 640 is physically bigger, to accommodate the bigger screen.
Coming in at 5-inches, the 720p screen on Microsoft Lumia 640 is both bigger and sharper than its Nokia-branded sibling, with the increases in size and resolution meaning that you can have more tiles on the Start screen!
Microsoft Lumia 640 is newer than Lumia 635, and as such, it has a newer camera, as well, coming in at 8MP (with an LED flash). It also has a 1MP camera on the front, for taking selfies!
People often say that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Because of that, Microsoft Lumia 640 has the same Snapdragon 400 processor as you’ll find in Lumia 635 (a good thing, that processor is brilliant).
People who want more of high-end experience from their smartphone, but who don’t want to pay a high-end price to get hold of one; as a fusion of power and good value, Microsoft Lumia 640 is a winner.
